The Last of Duke’s Horse

I’m in Los Angeles again. Pick a number and start counting backwards, when you get to 0 I’ll be back on a plane to somewhere else.

I watched Network a few nights ago for the first time since I’ve started working in television.  I remember the first time I saw that movie I thought to myself, I bet a show like the one they propose would do really well; a show where a group of countercultural revolutionary terrorists go around committing crimes and filming them; but now I’m thinking that It would just be better to stick them all in a house and give them tons of alcohol.   Nobody seems to care about the substance of their content, and the hope for revolution in this country has been reduced to an advertising buzzword, like the Digital Revolution, usually a catchphrase like “the digital revolution is here” attached to a new television or cellphone.

I’ve been thinking about developing a meth addiction. I think it would be a nice change of pace for me.  I could get out there, get active, collect some new experiences, just change my frame a little bit.  I was thinking, meth is probably preferable to a heroin addiction; heroin may feel nicer or whatever, but I don’t want to spend all that time laying around uselessly, I can do that without the heroin.
